San Joaquin River Trail Spirits

2009 Work Days

The San Joaquin River Trail is being constructed by volunteers of the Sierra National Forest. Any interested person in good health and 18 years of age or over is invited to join the construction crew, the Trail Spirits. The departure time is generally at 7:00 AM with a return by 6:00 PM. To participate, contact Jimmie Smothers at 297-7597 before 8:00 PM Thursday of a day trip or 8:00 PM Wednesday for an overnight trip. Do not attend a work session without checking in advance. Trips are subject to cancellation or date change. Transportation to the work site and back is provided by volunteer’s personal vehicle and sharing rides is encouraged.

Each participant must wear a long sleeve shirt, long-leg pants and work gloves. A hard hat will be provided to wear during the trail work. You must wear sturdy ankle high work boots. Each person is to provide a minimum of two quarts of water for the day’s work. A backpack for the water is recommended. Additional requirements will be discussed by the crew leaders.
